Rick Lip Synchronisation
A Rick & Morty animation study
During my fifth semester in the character animation course we covered the topics 2D animation und lip synchronisation in After Effects and I was so excited that I immediately decided to test my new knowledge on one of my favourite TV shows.

Concepting
For the artstyle of the figure I decided to remain faithful to the original series, but to give it my own style I decided to subtly shading and changing the proportions of the body and head size slightly.
Realization
In order to animate the in Photoshop illustrated 2D character, I had to draw all important body and face parts separately, to say on different layers. Especially exciting were the different mouth shapes of the character, which are used for different spoken consonants and vowels. I decided to use the 10 most distinctive mouth shapes for this.
The actual lip sync was then created in After Effects and I chose a short recording of myself as the soundtrack. The background of Rick's lab/garage was made based on a screenshot of the original series.
